Well, tomorrow night is our annual Twelfth Night party. Should be an interesting mixed bag, though I suspect attendance will be lighter than usual — there are a number of friends who’ve sent regrets, a number of folks from my office (the number of invites to whom have dwindled in recent years anyway), and the third leg of the triad, the church circle, will be diminished by our inadvertently scheduling the event opposite the “Hungry Flock” progressive dinner for this month.
On the bright side, though, the downstairs is already a lot cleaner than usual, though we had some mix-ups with the cleaning people and they didn’t come this week. But the clutter has been mostly relocated to the dining room and landing, whence it can be pretty straightforwardly put away.
Margie did all the food shopping today, bless’er. Which makes tomorrow’s prep a lot more straightforward than it has been in some years past.
The weather? Well, not as cold or blustery as it has been some years (when we had folks calling from north Denver begging off saying that they were in white-out conditions), but unlike most of this week, the temps won’t get above the mid-40s, so we’ll need plenty of jacket space and we should have a healthy uptake of glög and other warm drinks.
Heck, maybe we’ll have a fire …
Sunday, on the other hand, is my first GMing of the year, finally running my “home-brew” spy scenario. Which I would feel a lot better about if only I’d not gotten sucked into a whole bunch o’ writing of other work things during the past week. Ah, well. I think I can improv the details within the basics I have mapped out.
Heh heh heh …
