Got a mailed summons to Jury Duty on 1 March. Colorado is pretty harsh about getting exemptions for job-related reasons (you can get one postponement, but that’s it), which, to be honest, doesn’t bother me that much (civic duty and all that, y’know?). They also have a one-day-one-trial policy for jury selection, and, for that matter, most people call the phone number the night before and are told they don’t have to report in.

For that matter, my employer, while still looking at “hardship for the business” issues (which won’t fly here) also provides fully paid leave of absence for jury duty. That didn’t use to be the case, many years ago, and I’m glad they’ve seen fit to change that policy.
