  1. The death spreads…My version of the crud has moved on to phase 2. From mildly ill cough and sexy voice to walking snot-ball of burning death.

Do not come by lest ye be taken too. You have been warned.

  2. You seem to be a month behind the west coast. We all had the “I think I am going to die — on no! I’m afraid I will not die” thing in January.

  3. Assuming it’s the same bug, I had it here in Colorado the second week in January. I caught it while skiing at Breckenridge.

Phase (1) was fever and aches so severe I could not sleep without pain relief. Phase (2) involved using up a box of tissues in two days and feeling tired. I taught during phase 2 with the aid of some drugs and lots of sleep, but it left me feeling pretty wasted when I got home in the evening. I was very careful about trying not to pass it on, and so far as I am aware, I was successful. Phase (3) is tiredness. I slept about 40 hours one weekend while making the transition from phase 2 to phase 3, and once I got into phase 3 more clearly, I slept much more than normal. I think phase 3 lasts several weeks. I’m 4 weeks out from the first symptoms, and I’m still feeling a bit tired and weak. I haven’t been exercising, so loss of fitness is probably part of what I’m feeling, but I think it’s more than that.

One the one hand, I think I got off pretty easily compared to some stories I have heard. On the other hand, I’m fairly annoyed at the fact that this has kept me from bicycling for roughly a month. Don’t catch it if you can avoid it!

  4. Mine started with a persistent sinus headache, then proceeded to the lovely post nasal drip and sore throat, then on to wracking painful coughing fits. Interspersed in there somewhere was a day of muscle aches, night sweats and rampant heartburn. Sadly missing work was not an option, so I got to enjoy the office in all my diseased glory.

I’m still hacking up what feels like lung tissue every so often, but at least the headaches are gone. I figure I’m going on day ten or so total. Hopefully just a few more to go.

  5. I seem to be well enough to drag myself to the keyboard, and take over the household today from Margie (who seems to be about 24h behind me). Generally unpleasant, though.
