Voice dialing on the Treo 650 is available as a separate add-on product from PalmOne. Okay.
But the damned thing is not compatible with PalmOne’s Bluetooth wireless headset. In other words, in the hands-free environment you’re most likely to want to voice dial from, you can’t do it. The most natural combination of technologies to provide a safe, hands-free situation for calling just plain doesn’t work.
Freakin’ useless.
Presumably it’s because of issues with voice recognition across the Bluetooth connection, but it’s one of the goofiest incompatabilities I’ve run across in quite a while.

I’ve been called to do a little troubleshooting on a Treo 650 not long ago. I didn’t know much about them at the time, but based on what I found out you’d be hard pressed to get me to buy one.
The client in question had a problem with accessing his email on the Treo. Whenever he clicked the mail icon it would cause his Treo to crash to a warmboot. We tried everything we could think of including a hard reset of the device (as recommended by Palm) to fix the problem and it just couldn’t be fixed. Worse, this was the third Treo he’d had as the first two were sent back and replaced by his provider. When I went digging online for answers I found that this sort of problem affects a helluva lot of Treos and could occur with any of the applications installed, though it seemed to affect mail clients most often. There’s a lot of unhappy owners out there and a lot of people trading their Treos in for something else. That’s the route my client decided to go. He figured three strikes and the Treo is out. I’ve certainly heard of similar tales, and it’s one reason why I’ve not rushed to get my e-mail downloading to the Treo yet. (I’ll probably have to play with this sometime this weekend.)
My system has crashed occasionally, but I’m used to that from any Palm device. Hell, I find any computer system I keep running for more than a few days is prone to some sort of crash.
But, by and large, I remain quite happy with the Treo. It does exactly what I was looking for (combining phone and PDA), and the Bluetooth and wireless Internet stuff is pretty keen, too.
