In case it’s not obviousl, I’ve been scouring my Essential FF and Essential Avengers for suitable blog titles. Stan the Man sure had a way of making them ring, didn’t he?
Last installment, I suspect, of the Comics I’m Reading Recently:
- Young Avengers #4-5 (Marvel): Kang has come back to bring himself — here present as “Iron Lad” — back to the future. The Avengers have no choice but to help — and the other YA kind of agree, given what else is as stake. But when Kang turns on them all, it’s up to the YA to take him down … As goofy as the whole concept sounds (particularly for the Marvel Universe), YA is a solid title, written well and believably by Allan Heinberg, co-written and pencilled by Jim Cheung. Intriguing, interesting, and attractive. One to watch.
- Y: the Last Man #34-36 (Vertigo): Yorick and Co. are aboard a luxury liner that, unbeknownst to them, is a key carrier for the drug trade from the States to Australia. The last elements of the Aussie Navy are out to stop them, and Yorick has to decide if he’s going to go down with the ship. Meanwhile, Yorick’s girlfriend is the captive of the Aborigines, and is in a dreamtime flashback of her past with Yorick. This fascinating story by Brian Vaughan of the last man on Earth continues apace. Good stuff.
And now I’m going to stand up and walk around for a few minutes, before getting back to it.
Three. We’re down to the final three! And you, YOU have yet to sleep. Me, I got a few hours in, although it is VERY hard to sleep even when you want to! Good luck falling asleep in three hours!!
Yup. Only three hours. Though … there’s a complication that arises …
