Had our local circle’s Secret Santa Gift Exchange and Holiday Dinner thang last night — Doyce & Jackie, Dave & Lori, Lee and De, Randy, Stan, and us. Everyone brought over dinner stuff, so we had a regular holiday dinner, with yummy turkey and stuffing and rice and potatoes and soup and a whole bunch of other stuff. The Testerfolks hosted, which was nice because our house remains a disaster.
After dinner (interspersed with squeals of fun as Katherine and Rachel played together), we did gift stuff. We long ago realized the Secret Santa thing was the way to avoid bankruptcy all around, since, all being geeks, we all could easily find hundreds of dollars of stuff to give to each other, regardless of whether or not we had hundreds of dollars to spend (and hence my interest in Secret Santa sites for next year).
Miraculously, the stuff we’d ordered from Amazon for Randy and for Lori (Margie’s and my gift recipients, respectively) arrived yesterday afternoon, which gave me at least 10 minutes to get it wrapped.
Margie got a cool set of Nambe salt-and-pepper shakers. I got Vol. 2-3 of Batman: The Animated Series. Very pleased, and a great way to really kick off the holiday season.
