That all said, I’m both glad and sad that my term is coming to a close — one more meeting in mid-January, immediately followed by the parish’s Annual Meeting, and I’m outta there. Sad that it’s an end of an era for me; sure, I know they won’t let me not do stuff, but as a member of the Vestry, I was (reluctantly) a mover and shaker of some degree, and at least as in the know as most folks can be. Sad also because the Vestry (as it’s membership has rotated) has been a great group of people to serve with and spend time with, and I suspect I’ll be doing significantly less of that.

Glad, because, well, one fewer meeting a month (or more), one less set of responsibilities, etc. And for all it’s been a great bunch of people, it’s also sometimes been a very intense experience as we’ve wrestled with some very thorny issues at the parish (financial and administrative and political) over the past four years.

Time to move on, regardless — as soon as we come to agreement on a budget, and as soon as I can lead the nominating committee into identifying candidates to run for the seats coming up vacant …
