I really hate it when politicians put out ads that don’t give their political affiliation. Granted, our representatives are — or certainly should be — more than their party, But party tells a lot about a pol, predicts at least some of their actions and alignment. So when you hide it, I tend to assume you’re trying to hide something.
So … here’s looking at you, Spencer Swalm. Why do I have to sift through the vague generalities on your brochure and peer through the fine print to see who’s supporting your campaign, to figure out your party? Sure, you say it on your web page … but this big, fancy, colorful flier in my mailbox? I don’t see anything telling me if you’re Republican or Democrat? Why are you hiding your affiliation? Why don’t
you want me to associate your name with the GOP?
(And, yes, I feel the same way about Democrats who do the same thing — though, arguably, in a conservative district they might want to downplay their being Evil Liberals or something — but if you’re running as a Democrat, or a Republican, then run as one, dammit.
