The US Presidents. By, ironically, Marx.

I had this set. The painted one. Complete with styrofoam amphitheater and columns. These guys helped me learn all the presidents — and served as army men, too, in a pinch.

I loved these guys. Yes, I was a weird kid, but I thought these things were the greatest things since sliced bread.

I suspect they got tossed out ages ago — but I’ll never forget these guys. And, through the wonders of the Internet, I’ll never have to.

  1. OMG!! I had this set, too! I loved those things. That, and a set of American Heritage books on the Presidents. They had those as premiums a the grocery store when I was a kid, and my mother got me each one as a new one came out every month. I think it was 1967 or 1968. It always bugged me, because we moved and I never got the last one.

    I found them on eBay.

    Really nostalgia time. First Mr. Bear and now the presidents. Don’t remember for sure but lean toward the grocery store premium. Can’t imagine throwing them out, yet don’t remember having seen them since Diamond Bar. How about you? Any possibility they are in some “memorabilia” box in your basement?
