Yesterday was cold (single digits) but clear — shoveled off the driveway midmorning, and it was dry by the end of the day.

This morning — we discovered another inch-plus on the ground, snow still coming down (since 4 a.m.), and the prospect of 3-4″ or so on the ground here, vs. when folks coming over today for Post-Twelfth Night Gaming and Not-Really-Leftover Munching and Holiday Gift Exchange.

  1. We will take your cold and snow if you can get it here. I am thinking about all the agricultural pests that will survive the winter that should not. When I was a kid, we didn’t see the ground sometimes from Thanksgiving to Easter. We used to go out on the back porch, blow bubblegum bubbles, let them freeze and shatter them.

This long string of warm winters worries me. Something’s out of whack. Almost as if the globe is warming, somehow. Hmm…

  2. Since you’re nearly five thousand feet above me, it’s hard to feel much sympathy.

Weird things our summers have been cooler while our winters are warmer.

  3. Interestingly, I’ve had frost in my backyard for the last three nights. Not that frost is unheard of, but three nights in a row is a bit unusual. I’m getting tired of throwing sheets over temp sensative plants each night. Oh well, we all have our trials!
