As we’ve been getting back into clement spring weather (clement? getting into hot spring weather!), Katherine’s been wearing more of her sun dresses to church and the like. And …
My, she’s grown. A lot of them are at or above the knees now — and while “decorum” and “first grader” don’t go together all that often, every little bit helps. Time to hit the Target store after Karate Dinner and pick up some new stuff.
Meanwhile, the School Year slides into its final month. Her last Brownies meeting is this week (we have her signed up for a couple of GS camps over the summer, though), and school ends in a bit under four weeks. Yikes!
And on a sad note that stems from that, Katherine’s first grade teacher, Mrs Snider, will not be back next year. Demographics, alas — Littleton School District is “aging,” so the overall student body is in decline. Only two first grade classes next year, and no other positions to expand to, so, alas, Mrs Snider as the “new teacher on the totem pole” will have to move on. A real shame, because we liked her a lot and thought she was a great teacher — and I can recall how special it was for me in school to see former teachers in the halls or playground.
(Katherine doesn’t know this yet — Mrs S sent a note to the parents to give them the heads up, but won’t be announcing it to the kids until closer to the end of school.)
