Erick Wujcik has passed away .
He did a whole bunch of stuff with game development, but what I remember him most for, of course, was his work on the Amber Diceless Roleplaying Game (ADRPG). That was the game that both renewed (by way of total immersion) my love of Roger Zelazny’s writing, and introduced me to a form of gaming — diceless! story-telling! — that was an utter but delightful break from the crunchier systems I was used to.
ADRPG had its faults — a lot of them — but it was a springboard for me and a lot of people, and it translated into many, many, many hours of imagination and enjoyment with friends old and new. I owe him much for that.
Wujcik was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at the end of December. RIP.
