Links (most recent first) that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries ….
- A Tale of Two Healthcare Tax Deductions : Mike the Mad Biologist – Yeah, that’s pretty darned loony prioritization.
- Would synthetic meat be better for us and the planet? « Eideard
- Cash for Clunkers vs. Dumb Motherf***** – Could we have found a better way to help the environment by spending $3bn? Maybe so. Would it have stood any chance of getting past the GOP the way Cash for Clunkers barely did? Absolutely not.
- Mass Medical Clinic’s Sobering Message – But, remember, our current health care system is fine, and God forbid the government make sure that care is accessible to all.
- May All Your Standards Be Simple and Evolvable : Common Knowledge – This one’s for Margie (thanks, George).
- At Town Hall Meeting With Pre-Screened Questions, Vitter Mocks Democratic Concerns Over Protesters: Amanda Terkel
- Creation Museum: Is This How World Began? – ABC News – If your world — your life and your faith and even your vacation — is so precariously balanced that they can be “ruined” by someone’s t-shirt, it doesn’t say much for the power of any of them. Heck, the original Christian martyrs persevered in the face of torture and execution — and you’re pouting over a message on a t-shirt?
- It’s Evil, Alright – Right. We don’t want the a faceless bureaucrat in the Dept of Health and Human Services making medical decisions as to who deserves treatment. We want a faceless bureaucrat at Aetna doing that.
- Disintegration – Hiring mercenaries / private militarized security to do what we should be using professional military for has never seemed like a wise idea. History is full of areas where it backfired in awful ways.
- Palin Says Obama’s “Death Panel” Could Decide Fate Of Her Down Syndrome Baby – Palin admiringly cites Bachmann. That’s all you need to know.
- ‘Persecuted Christian’ Navy Chaplain is a Big Fat Liar; Dishonorably Discharged for Disobeying An Order – (1) What an asshat. (2) What a disgrace to both Christians and the military. (3) Criminy sakes, are there any religious nuts not congregating in Colorado Springs? I mean, Air Force, sure. Army, maybe. But a former Navy chaplain? In about as land-locked a state as you can find? Yeesh.

Klingenschmitt is a hero for the Christians, I’ve heard all about him from the VFW guy at work, I keep trying to tell him that he wasn’t CM’s for praying, but for wearing his uniform to a political meeting.
But I am shouted down as being wrong.
Call him a hero for the Christianists, and I’ll agree with you.
Okay, a Hero for Christianist. 🙂
The first stories I heard about those mass medical clinics were in 2006, so they predate the “collapse” of the economy, which makes them all the sadder.
I recieved an invitation to visit Sen. Feinstien’s office (because I’m still signed up at Obama’s website), and make comments about healthcare reform, and since I’ve only once had heathcare included in my benefits (welcome to the world of non-profit), I thought I’d take the time. It’s supposed to be participatory democracy, I think?!?
