- Lawmakers call for emergency sick-leave requirement — latimes.com – Tellingly, the conservative response is to discount the public health concerns and rush to defend the business community. The idea that the two might actually have a common cause here (if you discount short-term profit) is inconceivable to them. The only thing they can imagine is that this is going to cause workers to “cheat” — a telling judgment.
