Links (most recent first) that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries ….
- GOP receives bailout from AIG: Chris in Paris
- Can this be right? Am I missing something? – Wow. I (barely) missed the Hollerith Card era. But they make great note cards.
- It’ll Cost You $300 To Blog In Philadelphia – Sounds like a great reason not to run ads on your site. If you’re only earning $50/year, it’s probably not worth the hasslee.
- The Era Of “Investing” In Your House Is Over – These are the same analysts who were hyping housing when housing was hot. My gut feeling: housing is a good long-term investment, but, like any other long-term investment, is subject to periodic peaks and valleys. Timing is everything.
- Moving Away From Cable TV To Internet-delivered Content ‘Overhyped & Overanticipated’ – I have to agree — while I know it’s possible to configure stuff that way (with sufficient pain and tweaking), I don’t feel any compeling reason to do so.
- Ducks and Dogs – Okay, there’s an image I’ll never be able to shake.
- Over 2500 left-handed people a year are killed from using equipment made for right-handed people. – Though I am decidedly left-handed, I was trained in using some equipment right-handed, including scissors and, apparently, SkilSaws. Thank heavens.
- China’s Nine-Day Traffic Jam Tops 62 Miles – As the comments note, hey, isn’t that a Doctor Who episode?
- GOP National Comitteewoman To President Obama: “Are You A Christian? Do You Believe That Jesus Christ Is The Only Way To Heaven?” – (1) For some folks, religion is a zero-sum game. Either they win or they lose. Thus if you’re not a Christianist (let alone a Christian), then you are the enemy. (2) There is a lengthy and respect strain with in Christianity that does not see it as the exclusive path to heaven, or that it has a perfect and solely correct insight into God’s will. That would be a minority position, to be sure, but Christianity has a long experience with minority viewpoints. (3) To Ms. Lehman, my personal impolitic response would be, “What’s it to you? That’s between me and God.”
