Links (most recent first) that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries ….
- Climate change: the evidence – “The noise makers want to confuse you, because that’s how they sow doubt. But the reality, while not precisely simple, is there for all to see who want to actually see it.”
- Christmas Cranks: AFA Begins Annual Whine-Fest Over Seasonal Greeting – Given how religious conservatives of one era thought celebrating Christmas at all was sinful, it’s amusing that religious conservatives of this era think failing to intone the correct invocation during commercial transactions is some sort of huge sectarian conspiracy and oppression.
- Alarming Amendment: Fundamentalists Use ‘Personhood’ Proposal To Invade America’s Bedrooms – Here’s hoping Colorado voters — again — shoot this proposal down in flames.
- G.O.P. Senate Odds Slip on Colorado, West Virginia Polls – NYTimes.com – Note that even just narrowing the Senate balance will make the government still more unworkable. That said, better than than the GOP dominating both houses.
- ThinkProgress » GOP Senate Candidate Ken Buck: ‘I Disagree Strongly With The Concept Of Separation Of Church And State’ – Buck’s happy to see a mingling of church and state … as long as it’s HIS church …
- Obama Ruins Another Religious Right Conspiracy Theory – Now they will simply claim he’s “running scared” and has no real belief in it. There’s always another conspiracy theory each time the outermost one rots away …

- Zits for 10/21/2010 – Yeah, we go through this. Though not as badly as at my in-laws …
- Rand Paul supporters attack MoveOn activist in Kentucky – Looking at the video, it looks more like stomping on her hunched-up shoulder as she was forced down onto the curb, and then pinning her down there with his foot. Not that it makes it all that much better.
- 709-2: Weird Words: Culpon – For your period-writing pleasure.
- Changing Soda Serving Sizes – Very small incremental cost for the vendor, with a substantial uptick in the price and the “oh, boy, look at all I get” pleasure for the buyer …
- Scrivener Writing App Offers Extended Beta Trials on Mac and Windows [Video] – There sure seem to be a lot of folks excited about Scrivener, though I’m unsure I want to trust my NaNoWriMoBaby to a Beta (Windows) piece of software. How does it behave in a multi-PC collaborative setting (e.g., file storage in Dropbox or something)?
- Windows 8 in the pipeline, coming your way in 2012-ish – Given the slow uptake of Win7, despite everyone agreeing it’s a fine OS, I’m surprised MS isn’t taking a step back, working on incrementally cleaning up Win7 stuff under the hood, and working as well on long-promised/never-delivered OS features for Win8 (e.g., the new file/db system) with an eye toward Win8 being a major release in, oh, 2014. We really don’t need a new OS that soon.

I remember when the large drink at McDonald’s was 22 ounces. I fill my 64 oz. cup of soda before work every day. Is it any wonder I’m fat? Oh, and I tuck the cup between the passenger seat and door. :/
And you get free refills …
My best suggestion is switching to something diet. Sugared sodas are, well, like drinking a lot of sugar. A 64oz Coke has 750 calories, which is meal-sized for many people.
