Links (most recent first) that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries ….
- Charge!
- Cracking the Credit Card Code – We all knew it meant something. Now we know.
- TAPPED Archive | The American Prospect – Yeah, the ONN folks, et al., have been trumpeting this as (a) typical of all abortion clinics and (b) proof that society is beginning to turn on the practice. In reality, Gosnell demonstrates what abortion used to be like, and is increasingly becoming in a society where abortion is harder to come by legally.
- Oops: No copied Java code or weapons of mass destruction found in Android | ZDNet – Okay, I take back the “Oops” from yesterday.

More useful than the Credit card code – The Vin Code (aka Chassis number)
Vehicle Identification Code.
Chops down into chunks that will identify all the way down to which model, and which world wide factory your car was made in. Reason why it is important is that you should have at least 2 in your car – one on the engine, and at least one on the chassis. If you are buying a used car and these do not match ASK WHY. Most modern cars have 2 on the chassis – one in each half. If these do not match WALK AWAY and TELL THE AUTHORITIES. The car is almost certainly a Cut and Shut (ie 2 write offs welded together).
If ANY are loose then also be very suspicious – the rivet do not ‘work loose’ etc. The VIN plate may have been replaced.
VINs are matched with licence plates, allowing identification of burnt out cars etc where the plates are missing.
Yup. VINs are important.
