Links (most recent first) that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries ….
- CBS’ Bob Schieffer Drops Harry Reid In Favor Of John McCain To Discuss Egypt – “Clearly, we all need to hear more from the renowned Egyptologist John McCain.”
- Brown: By Blocking Unemployment Aid Set To Expire, The GOP Says ‘Too Damn Bad’ To American Workers – Stay classy, GOP (and Blue Dog Dem) jerks!
- Former Bush-Cheney National Spokesman Thinks Muslims Are Incapable Of Democracy: ‘This Is The Middle East’ – It’s funny how the Right always talks so loudly about the exceptional blessings of American liberty, the extraordinary and world-changing nature of the democratic dream we brought forth here — but aren’t willing to believe that others can also benefit from it. “Democracy for me, but not for thee.”
- All Laptops Should Be Like Google’s Stark Naked Notebook [Chrome] – I can understand the desire for a bit of branding, a fillip of product design. But, yeah, simplicity has a lot to say for it, especially in contrast.
- Deindividuation – “The more you feel personal accountability, the more restraint you will show.” Nothing new here. But still an interesting in-depth look at mob mentality, anonymity, and casting off of personal responsibility.
- Playing For Keeps – Instead of the National Guard, wouldn’t it be more traditional to call in the Pinkertons? Yeesh.

Things are a weeeeeeeeee bit tense at work right now, as any Wisconsin state employee would tell you!
I’m not represented by any of the unions, and they certainly are ripe for some reform, but this, this is a heavy handed, draconian tactic that I can only hope ends in a negotiation rather than conflict.
The ironic thing? Most National Guard members are members of these self same unions in their day jobs . . .
Ugh. Hope all ends well for all.
