I’m currently reading the hardback version of Traffic by Tom Vanderbilt. A hardback, it would be easier on my hands if it were lightweight and no page-holding. Kindle would be good for that.
I’ve done the reading-a-hardcover-whilst-walking. It’s not a trivial exercise. (I only buy hardcovers if (a) it will never be in a paperback edition, (b) the h/c is discounted to p/b range, (c) I’m replacing a worn-out paperback, or (d) in the extreme, if I just cannot wait.)
The Kindle, so far, is behaving well. It certainly saved space in my luggage to Chile. Plus it lies flat to the page with no effort.
The AP reports that e-book sales surpassed that of hardcovers in January. Apparently it spiked because of the number of readers given as Christmas presents, but I suppose it’s just a matter of time before that’s the norm.
Gratz! We love ours.
