In addition to risks of radiation release, there’s still the unsolved (at least partially due to politics) waste disposal problem. But simply burning more coal / oil / natural gas is not an alternative (nor is they safe, just more familiar in their significant risks). If we — let alone our children and grandchildren — are going to live in a world nearly as well off as our own, we are going to have to take future-pointing calculated gambles (and investments).
