I find this fascinating. Empathy seems to be showing up in a lot more species while our own seems to have leaders who either lack it completely or actively dissuade it.

I must agree, and that’s sad for us. It was, however, a sweet story, even without chocolate.
I had pet rats once. They were really cool and very smart.
One summer my (now) wife and I worked at the college taking care of the lab animals. She took care of the rabbits, I of the mice. Another friend handled the rats, who I never much cared for.
