Beyond the other things that the editorial below notes in its criticism of Rep. Lamborn's grandstanding here, is that the SOTU address is the current evolution of a Constitutional mandate that the President report to the Congress on the state of the union. Though reports were originally made in a written form and read into the record, the President has for most of the history of the nation been delivered live. It's not a partisan campaign speech that the President is requiring Congress to come and sit at. Your being there isn't in support of the president. It's your job.
