So it's no surprise that the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) sent out a breathless fund-raising letter / email / blog post saying that the Navy had sent out a memo "requiring" Navy chaplains to marry (eek!) gay people. Oh, the humanity!
Except, of course, the Navy did no such thing. It sent out a memo saying that Navy chaplains may officiate at such weddings, if their faith allows it and if it's consistent with local state laws.
But let's not let anything like the "truth" get in the way of fear-whipping up the masses into a righteous frenzy. #ddtb
