Three SCOTUS justices will turn 80 before the end of the next presidential term: liberal Ruth Bader Ginsburg, conservative Antonin Scalia, and perennial swing vote Anthony Kennedy.
So, assuming that the Senate would ever actually approve of a nominee, the next president could well affect the nature of the Supreme Court for decades to come, yada yada yada. So, yes, this could be The Most Important Presidential Election Ever (again). #ddtb
