So in our "Doctor Who" rewatch with Katherine, we're up to the second ep of Series 2 of the "modern" Doctor, "Tooth and Claw". Werewolf and Queen Victoria and Torchwood. That's all I have to say.
Now, funny story. Three, four years ago, for some reason, I watched this episode with Katherine. I don't recall the circumstances or why, but we watched it. And she enjoyed it a lot. She would have been seven or eight, and I should have been a bit worried (it is a lot more horror-oriented that most DW eps), but she loved it.
So, at that time, I thought, "Hey, maybe we can watch the whole series together." (There are no new ideas under the sun.) So, being the anal kind of guy I am, I popped in S01E01, the first Ninth Doctor episode, "Rose." Start at the very beginning, thought I (a very good place to start).
She seemed to enjoy it, but resisted thereafter watching any more. Until, oh, a month or so ao.
Asking her about it this evening, she says, "Yeah, and then you made me watch the first episode, and it was scary!"
"But … [thinking of the rather tame action and goofiness and the Nestine Consciousness in a Vat] … scarier than werewolves?"
"Daddy, you know I love werewolves."
Go figure.

Yep. For Ray, it's been, "But it wasn't KIDS in danger." She flees when Goosebumps is on.
In related note, she's reading Claws! and I threatened to make her read Pet Sematery this summer after describing the plot. Should have SEEN her eyes. So…maybe not.
Oh, yes, Kay assures me she will NEVER watch any R.L. Stine.
