After my right eye, the worst, 4+ diopters off from the other eye, was “rebuilt”, my old glasses were too strong for it. I bought a pair of drugstore readers–I forget what strength–but they drove me nuts as well, so I punched out one of the lenses. After my left eye was done, I got a pair of +1.25 readers, which I need to read, but must not wear if I walk or drive.
Dr. Kaur (standard last name for a Sikh woman) said I had the smallest adult eyes she’s ever worked on. I’m guessing that my right eye was the smaller.
I think I have two plastic ventilated shields, one metal and plastic, that I had to wear a bit while sleeping.
I will have to have bifocals after all, but a much lesser power, AND no slab-off, so I can get Transitions lenses now. My middle-distance vision is fine, but at 60′, I couldn’t tell whether the singer’s eyes were open or closed, and I wasn’t able to read the overhead street sign until I was too close to do anything but pass the intersection.
I have two pairs of Solar Shields, which I have to wear in the car, as Transitions don’t function well in a car. Hmm. Maybe clip-on shades, as long as they’re inexpensive, since I managed easily to lose two more expensive pairs.
Does Ginger need any lenses at this point? I think in a year or two, I might get my eyes “resurfaced” again, with LASIK. I still have moderate astigmatism in my right eye, in spite of the toric len$$$ used in both eyes.
Recuperate quickly!
