A lovely vintage brochure about why one should vote against … well, giving women the vote. Wonder how many of these arguments would still be made today if this was still open to discussion? (via https://twitter.com/kfury/status/265923478186774528/photo/1)
(Btw, "Petticoat Rule" sounds like a great band name.)

Change is always scary for those who have what others want. How equality is so threatening I will never understand. Forever the predictions of society falling apart with progress.
+Dave Hill Wow. The "double or annul" point is illogical.
Oh, one could have a field day analyzing the crazy arguments (both internally and between different ones presented here) being used. "Women's voting is useless! But it will cause all sorts of problems! But women aren't interested in it! But it will cause conflict! But their votes will only double or annul their hubbies' votes! But SOMETHING AWFUL MIGHT HAPPEN!"
We used to call that the "shotgun defense" in debate.
UPDATE: The other pages of the pamphlet. They're just as charming: http://jwa.org/teach/primarysources/orgrec_08pf.html
