So, much brouhaha and outrage over Simone revealing she'd been fired (by e-mail, no less) from writing "Batgirl" last week. All along the way, though, she's been a class act.
Earlier today on Twitter:
Guys, I'm hearing that people are getting personal nasty emails about this Batgirl thing. PLEASE don't do that.
No one is a villain here, it's just a thing that happens in all creative media. Please, please don't send anyone nasty emails. REALLY.
And later:
I have heard NOTHING BUT GREAT things about @rayfawkes, who is doing issues 17&18 of Batgirl. I wish him every possible success.
And then, in a chain toward the end of the day:
Little Update, guys: First, again, I don't know what to say to all the support. It is genuinely inexplicable and kind. I lack words to say.
I have heard from almost all the big publishers and some of the small press folks, and some game companies. Lot of fun stuff on the table.

…other projects from me. So it is going to be a very different year, but things are going to work out, I am convinced. New challenges.
Creator-owned stuff, and also characters I have never gotten to work on before. It's VERY EXCITING.

So I am happy and have a lot of huge decisions to make, but am incredibly fortunate to have those opportunities. Ridiculously fortunate.
So, like I said, a class act.
Meanwhile, all sorts of hints and rumors about all the goings on, from Something Dire (and objectionable) planned to happen in "Batgirl" as part of the "Death of the Family" storyline going on in the Batbooks, to … a really good writer coming in for two issues (only?) to … well whatever it means that the DC "higher ups" are saying that this was all something that "went awry" (presumably with the editor or the greater DC Editorial board).
But it sounds like Simone is landing on her feet, with everyone, DC included, trying to get a piece of her (back). Good.
