You know how much Congress is sweating bullets over finding $85B in revenue adjustments?  Well, they might have had an extra $60B of that, easy, if we hadn't been throwing around money like candy in Iraq in post-war rebuilding and projects. (That's not counting, of course, the $800B or so we spent just on military operations there.)

"Well intentioned, but poorly prepared and inadequately supervised" is how an Iraqi official referred to the various infrastructure projects the US frittered money away on. Unfortunately, that seems to have been a good way to describe the whole US Iraqi effort.
