Kay brought home a note today, saying that, having been identified by the middle school staff as "a strong leader and a role model for our school," she's being invited to be part of the Orientation/Mentor Program group.
This team, in 8th Grade (next year for her), helps transition new 6th Graders (and their parents) into middle school. She'll meet with them prior to school starting, give tours, brief the new kids on how to open their lockers, mentor them, and all that jazz. They were a great help when Kay was moving from elementary into middle school, and it's very cool that she's been recognized as someone who can do that thing.
Plus, a free t-shirt!
