Movie Review: "Star Trek: Into Darkness" (2013)

Kay's been on a movie-watching kick while spending time with the grandparents, so I was both amused and pleased that the new ST film had been at the top of her list to see (it's been busy around here, folks).

Margie and I finally took the opportunity to see it last night.  And I'm glad we did.  And, unlike most of my reviews, I do have to warn of SPOILERS.

So, SPOILERS, because it’s impossible to discuss this movie without including them (or leaving out some serious discussion). Let me start with what I didn’t like about this movie, just to get it out of the way: 1. The sense of setting, space, time, distance in this movie is pretty screwed up.   1. I enjoyed the movie tremendously, but wish it hadn't been a Trek film. Also I'm getting tired of movies saying; "Hey! It's OK to do 9-11 themes now! Let's collapse buildings and slaughter/traumatize people on the ground! Really loud! With lots of exclamation points!"

  2. Actually, I was a bit surprised that the devastation wasn't more devastating. But there, as in several instances, mass death was just another proof of villainous cred.
