A ★★½ review of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest (2006)
On my first viewing, I ended up seeing PotC2 (“Dead Man’s Chest”) and PotC2 (“At World’s End”) back to back, so they tended to blur for me. Having now watched just PotC2, I find my original impression of it still holds true: it’s a poorly plotted, gloriously produced “middle episode” that we could have lived without but which made lots of money for Disney. In the decision to go for a trilogy, something happened between PotC1 and PotC2. The story …
