Near-future signs

These signs prompted by new technology are both fun and well-done.

We will see these street signs from the future very soon
Signs From the Near Future—a Tumblr that features photoshopped images that show the upcoming consequences of technology development—has quickly become one of my favorite blogs. Some of the street signs are genius— I have no doubt that we will see them in the very near future.

  1. I went to the original site, and saw this.

The reason I mention this is an insight to the human brain.

The FIRST thing I noticed was it appears to be an English motorway, with the picture flipped to make it Left Hand Drive.

It was the countryside. Then I realised the registration plates had also hit my subconscious. Also the architecture and signage I checked – zoom in on the lorry on the left – you’ll see the writing is backward.

I found this brain spark more interesting than the joke.

    1. @LH – It may be a quirk of my own brain, but when I remember the driving tours I’ve taken through the UK, I always (unless I really strain) picture myself driving on the right. The mental shorthand is “you drove along here” so the standard “this is what driving looks like” bits are inserted.

(Not quite sure why the picture on the Tumblr was reversed like that, to be honest.)
