Dig? Dug

What do you do when the equipment used to dig out your sub-sub-basement in your lovely London property is so deep that it costs more to lift it out than to replace it? Simple — you simply bury it.

It's hard to argue with the economic equation, but it still seems somehow wrong.

  1. Sorry, its probably an Urban Myth.

The Not True was also on the BBC site, but I can’t find it at the mo.

They use the tiny diggers, and use a block and tackle to get them out.

    1. @LH – Perhaps. Though the article (which, frankly, is from the HuffPo, even with an English accent) is basically people who might rightly be embarrassed saying, “Well, not, that’s simply ridiculous.”

I will … reserve judgment. And, honestly, it’s less about “profligacy of the wealthy” (though that’s certainly a titillating aspect) as much as “the bizarre economics of deep excavation in a posh residential neighborhood.”
