Not quite sure what's wrong with the previous version — but I suppose there's a lot of things one could do with the source material beyond the animated feature Disney did some decades back. And, heck, Jon Favreau makes it worth a look-see anyway.
Looking at the list of talent voicing the animals, there are a lot of stars there. Which is fine, though it reminds me again why I didn't seriously consider getting into voice work — these days, the vast majority of high-profile jobs go to actors from the live action world.

Being able to mimic one of those high-profile guys, however, is a gravy train. They're not going to pay for Ben Kingsley to record for the video game, the phone apps, the audiobooks, the spin-off TV show, etc. etc.
+Brittany Constable Perhaps not for Idris or Scarlett. For Ben? I'm convinced, given the roles he's played since Gandhi, that he sold his soul to something that requires him to play whatever role is offered to him …
+Dave Hill He might be one of those guys who just loves acting. Like, rumor has it Christopher Walken will only turn down a part due to scheduling issues, because he enjoys it so much he doesn't care how minor or terrible the role might be. No idea if it's true, but it wouldn't surprise me.
