And it's not just sports.
People of the future will discover that 21st century worshippers sent their young children to a temple in which they worshipped a giant rat, ate a specially-prepared religious food called "pizza," and engaged in religious observances in which the children dove into baptismal fonts filled with plastic balls instead of water. They engaged in these religious ceremonies on an annual basis, and rat worship was very popular.
Adult males engaged in a similar religion in which the figure of worship was not a rat, but an owl. However, it appears that the owl itself was not worshipped; instead, high priestesses in special religious attire were objects of veneration.
