Good Morning Google+ your daily story about art: 07.24
So much landscape, and with grizzly stories at that, cries out for something completely different. By a wonderful coincidence, today is the birthday of the Czech artist Alphonse Mucha, who was born on July 24th in 1860.Mucha worked in Vienna, Paris and many of the Slavic countries, and was a major factor in the development of Art Nouveau. He worked both as a painter and in all kinds of decorative arts, creating a poster for one of Sarah Bernhard's plays that she liked so much she gave Mucha a six year contract for more.
This is his The Seasons from 1897. Like most of his works, we see lovely young women, in somewhat neo-classical robes, surrounded by flowers and plants of the seasons. They look like they would be fun to know, even Winter to have a certain sense of humor and happiness.
Hope you too find happiness and humor today, and tread lightly
