As planned, uninsured hospital visits are significantly down

One of the goals of the ACA was to reduce folks showing up in the hospital ER without any insurance because of the Reagan-era law that required they be treated (for acute, not chronic, conditions).

And, not surprisingly, that's just what's being seen. More people have insurance under the ACA (and still more in states where Medicaid expansion has been taken up), and so hospitals aren't having to pick up the tab (and pass the cost along to those folk who do have insurance).  Indeed, part of that should be from folks arriving at the hospital with insurance, and part from folk who are now able to get insured care at (much less expensive) regular clinics.
