While in Grand Junction we went to the Museum of Western Colorado "Dinosaur Journey" (https://www.museumofwesternco.com/visit/dinosaur-journey/).
It was … quaint. Small townish. Suitable for school field trips and bringing the (very) young'uns. Someone looking for serious dinosaur fossil work and coherent interpretive exhibits and the like … should probably give it a pass. Someone looking for animatronic dinosaurs that very much need repair and/or new rubber skins … will find it the sort of thing they like.
Which is unfortunate, because I'm sure the staff mean well, and this is a key fossil area that would benefit from a serious dinosaur museum. I suppose they really need a multi-million dollar donor to make that dream come true.

That used to be a big deal, going to the dinosaur museum, when I was little. I haven't been in quite some time now
I thought the US was keen to invest in museums about pre-history. Kentucky for instance has pumped in a fortune in tax breaks.
There is a great difference, of course, between “pre-history” and “fantasy.” Also, mercifully, I don’t live in Kentucky.
