RIP, Joan Rivers

I was never much of a Joan Rivers fan, largely because by the time I really became aware of her she'd become less of a comic and more of a personality — you knew the jokes and zingers and one-liners you would hear (thematically, if not word-for-word), and her life was mostly about being The Joan Rivers(TM).

We recently got a 24-hour comedy radio station in the Denver area, and occasionally they'll play a clip from one of her earlier routines — and, y'know, back in the day, when the routine was fresh and you weren't just laughing along with the familiar persona, she was damned funny. (Same is true for Phyllis Diller, and some others.)

So, thanks (belatedly) for the laughs.
