Ironic, isn't it, that the people who decry that fact that people require government assistance are the ones who could end that necessity by paying higher wages, thus reducing taxes on them that pay for said assistance.
Are they blind? Stupid? Or just pig-headed?
Their argument is that
a. They don't need government assistance because if they only worked harder they would be okay.
b. If they really needed help, then churches and private charities would help them, because …
c. Taxes are Theft. And if I've Got Mine then You Can Pound Sand. FREEDOM!
And in Britain we keep being told that Free Market capitalism is far better than those nasty Europeans. Thatcher idolised Reagan, and our entire political system followed.
