As modern adaptations of cartoons I loved as a kid, this one's hard to beat. It's loud and blinding and goofy, and in all those things just plain old perfect for what it is.

The Wachowski’s caught a lot of flak for this film, but as far as I’m concerned it does its job perfectly — creating a bigger-and-brighter-than-life anime adaptation that’s just damned good, non-stop fun, complete with a great soundtrack by Michael Giacchino and visuals that, if they don’t give you an epileptic fit simply add to the joyful surreality of the whole thing.
