As modern adaptations of cartoons I loved as a kid, this one's hard to beat. It's loud and blinding and goofy, and in all those things just plain old perfect for what it is.
+Kay Hill liked it, too.
A ★★★½ review of Speed Racer (2008)
The Wachowski’s caught a lot of flak for this film, but as far as I’m concerned it does its job perfectly — creating a bigger-and-brighter-than-life anime adaptation that’s just damned good, non-stop fun, complete with a great soundtrack by Michael Giacchino and visuals that, if they don’t give you an epileptic fit simply add to the joyful surreality of the whole thing. It’s silly, it’s goofy, it’s overblown, it’s not great cinema by any means, …
I could talk about this movie for HOURS. So much love.
