As long as they're funny, why the hell not? There's nothing particularly gender-specific about the roles or the premise.
As far as "pandering," would it be "pandering" if it were a mixed-gender cast? Would it be "pandering" if it were an all-male cast? Nearly all casting is a blend of creative design and gimmickry / pandering to some audience demographic or another.
And as for the "Oooh, they're ugly / fat / funny-looking" crowd … yeah, like Murray, Ramis, and Aykroyd were all cut stud-muffins, even thirty years ago.
Bah. I'm tempted to see it for no other reason than to tweak the yahoos complaining about it.

The Best and Worst Reactions to Yesterday’s Female Ghostbusters Casting News
I think I'd be more apt to see this if they weren't trying to "re-invent" the Ghostbusters for no other reason, in my opinion, than to try to hook in fans of the franchise….which I don't think it's going to do, anyway.
I see it as a P.C. ploy and nothing else.
They keep calling it a reboot and I really hope its not. I'd much rather see a Ghostbusters: The Next Generation kind of thing.
But that would require them to come up with an original plot so …
If it's a new story, I'm good with it. If it's a remake, I don't see the point. We have the original!
