Police departments are getting body cams, which is a good thing. Except that, even with storage prices coming down so low, we're talking massive amounts of data (subject to ambiguous but ever-expanding data retention laws), which is already having an impact on police department budgets.
Indeed, body cams themselves are sold at a much lower margin than storage — which is why a lot of body cam companies are getting into that business.

lol. this is every technology ever. the maintenance costs are the bulk of the costs that frequently get mismanaged.
Heh. And infrastructure. Everyone loves a bridge being built — it's pretty, and sexy, and useful, and gets named after someone. But nobody ever one an election making sure the maintenance budget was kept up to snuff.
