As somebody who started driving when gas was 30¢ a gallon, I don't think of current gas prices as cheap. I hate paying 2½ bucks a gallon.
Well, Americans are idiots, yes.
I was morally offended when gas exceeded $1 a gallon.
I just bought a new RAV4 Hybrid, not because it was green but because I’m pretty sure that gas priced WILL go up again.
The price only pays for cheap gasoline if you can get to that price in the first place.
