Security concerns aside, I must confess that I have never felt the need to web surf from my refrigerator. I can see where there might be some edge use cases in some households, but these things simply do not fulfill any of my fridge requirements (or fantasies, for that matter).
Putting a wireless digital photo frame on it might be cool, but that's about as hi-tech as I can conceive needing at this point.
I'd much rather have a Chromecast enabled monitor mounted so I can cast recipes to the screen.
However, a) that use case doesn't need internet capability, just wifi b) I can build that myself at a reasonable price tag and little effort c) If I build it myself, I don't have to replace my fridge if it breaks.
+Nick McIntosh Yes! That would certainly be handy.
Still trying to decide if even a built in icemaker makes sense, considering they all seem to produce those wretched lemon-wedge shaped “cubes”.
