On Russia's election meddling, it's time, we are told, to "move forward"

The meeting between Trump and Putin lasted a lot longer than expected. There are no transcripts, just what folk came out saying was discussed. Re Russian hacking and the 2016 Election …

Tillerson said the two leaders had a “very robust and lengthy exchange” on cyber threats and election interference, with Trump pressing Putin “more than once” on its interference in 2016 election. Russia has repeatedly denied any such action. Tillerson said the U.S. and Russia held “intractable disagreements” on the Russian involvement, and were now focused on moving forward. “The relationship is too important not to move forward,” he said.

State-run Russian media reported that Trump told Putin the issue was being exaggerated in the U.S. Lavrov said Trump accepted Putin’s assurances that Moscow didn’t meddle. Lavrov also said the two countries agreed to set up a joint working group on cybersecurity.

So if we believe the Russians, Trump is not only willing to give the whole Russian interference thing a pass, but is going to … work together with the Russians who hacked us to … improve cybersecurity?

Okay, well, clearly that must be propaganda. If we believe the Americans then …

… well, Trump brought it up multiple times, Putin denied it, it's all he-said-she-said, so let's just "move forward."

Um … in either case, it seems the official White House position will be that, whether or not the Russians (or "others") did it (who knows? we can't know! it's probably fake news anyway), we're just going to move on and not worry about it, because that's so 2016.

Not that I expected much else, to be honest, but …
