On the election of Doug Moore (BWAH-HA-HA-HA!), my GOP Senator, Cory Gardner, had this to say:
“Tonight’s results are clear – the people of Alabama deemed Roy Moore unfit to serve in the U.S. Senate. I hope Senator-elect Doug Jones will do the right thing and truly represent Alabama by choosing to vote with the Senate Republican Majority.”
BWAH-HA-HA-HA!
No, but seriously …
First kudos to Gardner, head of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, for sticking to his guns to oppose Moore, when so many other Republicans backslid, and the RNC actually went back to throwing money into Moore’s campaign.
But … really?
The argument seems to be the idea that, well, this wasn’t a rejection of the Republicans as much as a rejection of Roy Moore. And I can’t actually argue that (or even criticize it, because Moore is … deplorable, in so many ways).
But our electoral system doesn’t work the way Gardner described. The GOP primaries made Moore the candidate. They have to live with that. Jones is under no obligation, Cory, to vote with the GOP caucus. More people thought he should be Senator than Roy Moore — and so he should do as his conscience tells him to.
But … nice try.

NRSC’s Cory Gardner responds to Jones win: ‘Do the right thing’ and vote with Senate Republicans
Sen. Cory Gardner, the chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, said Tuesday that Alabama voters deemed Roy Moore unfit for election, but also that he hopes Democratic victor Doug Jones will vote with Republicans once in the U.S. Senate.

LOL.
The FUCK.
