I can't imagine anything new (let alone worth listening to) the Tweeter-in-Chief could possibly have to say on prime time TV about the Trump Shutdown, his demands for his Beautiful Wall, or the "humanitarian crisis" along the border which his policies have already exacerbated.
All this and a publicity trip to the Mexico border to boot. All on the taxpayer's dime.
Here's hoping the TV networks say no.

Worth noting: the major networks declined to cover Obama's 2014 prime time speech on immigration policy because it was "too political".

Let's say that some networks agree to cover this, but also to invoke the old "equal time" idea to cover a Democratic response. Who would be the most effective spokesperson to deliver that response?
= "not attention-grabbing enough", if I read the piece correctly.
In 2014, "too political" was a code word for "too ruinous of our profits." Fox and NBC could rightly say that they were covering the speech – on their dedicated news channels.
But is Trump enough of a ratings magnet to allow general network coverage, or do the vast majority of people not care about the wall stuff?
P.S. Betcha Trump could ask the individual Sinclair stations to cover it – and they would.
More than likely he will declare his state of emergency, declare magic funding for the things he wants funded, and whatever other pet projects/laws/rules he wants and dare congress to do anything about it.
Also, remember last month when he said that he had signed a contract for someone to build his wall, and shortly after that his little steel picket fence picture kept showing up?
I would not be shocked that his picket fence will be part of the announcement.

Isn't it corollary to the concept of "attention economy" that what grabs attention rules? (rules over profits in particular; which turns out true for some industry/ies).
If need be, you could tweak the workings of money to make "what grabs attention rules over money profits" perfectly true, could you not?
Industries where this is on top of managers' minds, are familiar. too political = not attention-grabbing enough as they ('d want to) see it!
However, this ignores the epic of sirens' songs long cast over it… which I mostly failed to hear.
Now what about attention tax and redistribution? Reminds me of a saying of mine to which I didn't attend much for guilty years: "The text of Revelation is to sense like tax law is to money"

And as I assumed would happen, our media giants are way more afraid of the GOP and their base than the Dems so of course they are all going to broadcast trump tonight. It is a major issue and one that the Left needs to address, they need to make the media and the press as afraid of them as they are of the GOP.
And now to see if it is the death of US democracy and a quick trip to a dictatorship.
