Buying your way to VIPhood

You can now buy the “All the stuff that came in the special edition Collector’s DVD CoH” set — without the CoH disc (but with 30 days free) — for just $20. In addition to the PvP comic and the Statesman Heroclix, you also get access to an exclusive Cape style, the VIP Badge, and (a-ha!) the Prestige Powerslide travel power — which I’ve always wondered about, when I’ve seen people using it.
Now I know.
Don’t plan on getting the package (though the Powerslide would be kinda cool), but now I know.

  1. I thought you knew that was why the Avocet zips around (when he’s not flying, which usually means while on indoor missions–somebody said to him the other day, “Man, you float a lot!”), instead of clomping around like the rest of you. (And his cape is the special DVD version, if you were wondering what that looks like.)
For tthose of you who play HeroClix, the Statesman figure (which some people are actually trying to sell on ebay for $50!) has, for 118 points, the Freedom Phalanx team ability, one Ranged attack (12), and starts with Movement of 10 (Flying), a 9 Attack, a whopping 17 Defense, and a decent Damage of 3. His powers are Charge (which drops to Flurry for a bit before returning to Charge for a while), Super Strength (which drops to Quake and finally to Support), Invulnerability (and then Toughness, of course), and Battle Fury.
I suppose that means nothing to most (or all) of you. (I wish I had somebody to play HeroClix with these days.)

  2. Actually, no, had no idea — just guessed it was a power I’d not seen.
    Two questions, I guess:
    1. What’s the advantage (over, say, Sprint) of Powerslide? Aside from the Cool Factor, of course.
    2. Is it something you can take with everyone on your account, or something that’s a one-character power?

  3. Essentially, there is no difference between the two. (I did have some trouble setting up my Hover/Fly macro, which turns off Sprint/PPS, because the program requires that you call it Power Slide Prestige, for some strange reason.)
All characters on the account have all the goodies.

  4. Ah. I suppose that makes sense.
It was always one of those things where I was all, “I have to ask Avoscet sometime what that power is, since he has it …”
